Layer cake opening scene

I have chosen this opening scene. It is from the 2004 movie "layer cake".

I personaly like this opening scene, due to the camera work/effects/editing, also the audio dialog over top of the footage works well.


First of all the camera work, quick, snappy shots at the start work wel with the action that is going on. Also the panning shots to revel a diffrent scene works very well aswell. To show the olden times in comparison to how times are now etc.

The editing makes the atmosphere / feel for the scene seem more real. The urban feel, which i personaly like in mainy movies, but i feel that this opening scene espeicaly reenforces the urban feel, simply due to the editing / camera work, which is sharp / snappy and action packed. which makes the viewing audience want to watch on.

The drug scene in the pharmacy, is the best part of the opening sequence. The editing especialy is very good, the transition between the drugs and what the actual products are, works very well, and is a complex effect that works very welll, and that kind of effect you dont seem to see much in other films. were as with this, the opening sequence alone, you see many actions / effects, which really draws the audience in.

Overall this is a very good, effective opening sequence .
